When I help you choose a location for your session, I’m thinking about much more than the perfect light or a pretty landscape. I’m thinking about how the space will authentically hold you through this time of your motherhood journey.

Every environment holds its own unique frequency.
As you step into it, that energy begins to move through you, and your body responds by softening, expanding, settling, or awakening. And what settles in you, is what settles into the photographs. 😍

The ease in your shoulders as you feel baby kick, the joy in your eyes as you play with your children, the way your hand effortlessly finds theirs while running through the tall grass, the quiet introspection reverberated by the sensation of a late summer breeze... 🍃

So before we choose a place based on where the photos will look the “prettiest,”
I invite you to ask yourself...

🌾Where does my body soften, my breath slow?
🌸Where am I most as ease to drop fully into the present moment and forget that I’m being photographed?

Some sessions carry an extra layer of tenderness, and Hannah’s was one of them.💓

Next month, Hannah and her family will leave Asheville, following her husband’s job to a new chapter of life. Before they go, she wanted one thing captured: all four of them together, held for a moment within these mountains that have become part of their story.

“We wanted to book photos partially because we’ve never had any done with all four of us, and we wanted to capture this brief time of our life in Asheville, surrounded by the mountains we have come to love so much.”

What unfolded was joyful, unscripted, and real. Little hands reaching, laughter mid-frame, silliness between the stillness, and the sacred whirlwind that motherhood so often is.

“The session felt so fun and joyful. You managed to capture some very sweet moments in the midst of the chaos, which is how I generally find motherhood to be!”

These images aren’t just a family portrait, they’re an ode to a season now closing, and a love letter to the place that held them through it. 🙏🏼

I had planned a home birth. My own space, my own rhythm, birthing pool, candlelight and meticulously curated music.

I was carrying identical twins when we found out that one of my daughters had developed severe growth restriction with absent end diastolic flow.

With extremely close monitoring, and a tremendous amount of faith in my body and her’s, we made it to 33 weeks (10 weeks longer than originally medically suggested) when it became extremely urgent to schedule a C-section in order to give my daughter her best chance at life.

The beautiful home birth I had envisioned was no longer an option. 😭

Letting go of a deeply held vision is its own kind of heartbreak. I had to grieve the birth I thought I would have.

As I moved through that grief, I realized..
Ceremony isn’t found in where we give birth, it’s found in how we meet it. We create it with intention. ✨

So I asked myself, “How can I meet this experience with reverence?”

I decided to treat the operating room like sacred ground.

I entered our birth space with endless gratitude for the modern medicine available to us, and for the highly skilled individuals all seamlessly working together in devotion to care for my babies and me.

And then something magical happened…

As I was receiving my spinal, the entire room of women stopped their busy preparations to place their full attention and hands on me. My intentionally chosen music started playing overhead. The lights were dimmed, unused instruments were draped, and my midwife lovingly affirmed “You are surrounded my love and light, Cassie. Today is a birth day.” 🥹

The reverence that I brought into that room was instantly met and reflected back to me. 💫

What began as the scariest moment of my life was transformed into one of the most magical, held and beautiful experiences I could have asked for. All because of my intention to build ceremony into a room made for emergency.

The crisp air danced with the golden light as they rested into the moment, held by the earth, and one another. The sky cracked open. Rays of light struck down onto what felt like infinite layers of blue ridges. A gentle mist in the air embraced her hair with dew that brought out her curls. With playful feet, they ran, spun, tossed, and loved on their daughter wholeheartedly. Pure presence. Bursts of laughter, squeals of joy, and smiles that reflected the absolute miracle of life itself. Nothing else existed, but this moment. right. here. On top of the world, with her entire world.

🌕We honoured the sacred waters within her womb, beneath the full moon lunar eclipse in Pisces; a water sign of deep wisdom, mystical intuition, and gentle surrender. As we transition from Summer to Autumn, this liminal portal acted as a mirror, reflecting her shift from maiden to mother during the season of great release and transformation. 🍂🔥
She immersed into stillness, as a ceremonial ode to her Becoming, cradled by the ancient, living waters of the Appalachian mountains. With her full belly, a living alter of mystery and creation, the river held her in reverence, as these two souls were suspended as one. ✨
It was an incredible privilege to spend this evening with you @aurora_livingveda to create this absolute magic together. And thank you to the beautiful @mythologicalwoman to serve as our witness and fire tender.

Some nights are pure magic. Like last week, after an incredible maternity session on top of the world with the sweetest couple, I decided to sit and take a moment for myself. Kick off my shoes, ground myself into the earth’s power, close my eyes and feel the absolute abundance that swirl around me, and appreciation for the miracles of love that expand me. Just as the sun dipped below the ridgeline, hairs on my skin shot up in inspiration, I heard a sharp gasp coming from behind me. A beautiful couple, one down on his knee, asking for her forever. Without thinking, I grabbed my camera, still bare feet and ran toward them like a lioness chasing her purpose. As I crouched in the wind-swept tall grass, I candidly captured what would soon be one of the most magical memories of their lives. Documenting true emotion as it unfolded, witnessing their beautiful love for one another, and capturing the sacredness of total presence, was just as much of a gift for them, as it was for me.

About Cassie

I enjoy mindful, holistic living, travel and the adventure of motherhood to my three cubs. My family moved to Asheville in 2020, after selling everything we owned back in Florida to backpack Europe for 7 months with our then toddler, Ocean. Becoming a Mother has been my greatest inspiration to expanding into my most authentic self and following my dreams with pure intention and heart. Raised by the beach, and now evolving in the mountains, I have a deep love for nature, life's simple joys and stunning light.

I opened my photography business 16 years ago in Sarasota, FL and quickly became an award-winning fine art Motherhood photographer specializing in maternity, newborns, babies, and families. There's nowhere I'd rather be located than in Western North Carolina working with clients in Asheville, Weaverville, Hendersonville, Fairview, Brevard, Canton, Black Mountain and surrounding areas.

My style is intuitive and natural. My purpose is to preserve authentic moments of love and connection, rooted in deep presence.
